Our exclusive zero-waste production processes and commitment to quality materials ensure our supports are perfect: incredibly stable even on the largest scales with the slimmest profiles.
Our supports meet the exact needs of every artist. Each support can be completely customized, with design and engineering services available for fabrication of specialty supports.
Heavy Duty stretchers and strainers are constructed from select finger-jointed poplar: a strong, sustainably sourced, solid hardwood with a straight grain and even texture. We use only non-corrosive, quality expansion hardware and custom machined aluminum mending plates.
Stretching services available with linen and cotton canvases in a wide range of weights, sizing, and priming methods.

mechanical stretchers
Heavy duty stretchers with mechanical joints provide the ability to adjust surface tension without restretching, and feature cross-grain joinery with an internal frame. They are fully collapsible and can be made in sections with aluminum mending plates to offer folding capabilities. Highly recommended for painters who work on linen as well as for restretching existing paintings.

strainers
Fig House Studios strainers are a strong, stable support. Strainers are fixed supports with the same cross-grain joinery and internal frame as our mechanical stretchers. Strainers are also available with folding capabilities.

STRENGTH
Heavy duty
Heavy duty stretchers and strainers feature customizable profile depths from ⅞” to 3” and an internal frame totaling 3.25”. Heavy duty supports are extraordinarily strong and ideal for large-scale paintings.
cradled panels
Our cradled panels are constructed with a poplar internal frame and Baltic Birch faces.
Specialty options, including double-sided Torshion box fabrication, Dibond faces, handles, French cleats, and veneered edgebanding available.
